Welcome from the Directors
It is our pleasure to welcome you to the Institute for Child Health Policy!
The health and well-being of children and youth is vital to securing a positive
future for the nation. Our goal is to develop and apply scientific knowledge
that will promote health, improve health-related outcomes, deliver quality care,
and inform health policy decisions related to children and youth. Our research
programs are focused at multiple levels, including basic academic discovery,
formulation of public health policy, community-based systems of care, prevention
research, and the organization of health care systems. Through it all, our focus
is on improving the health and well-being of children and youth.
The Institute has a long-standing history as a local, state, national, and
international resource for communities, universities, governments, and other
organizations seeking guidance about issues of health, health services delivery,
quality of care, and the implementation of evidence-based health policy related
to children and youth. Together, we maintain a leadership role by advising researchers, program directors, and policy makers;
disseminating policy analyses; and maintaining strong ties with leading health
organizations.
Our core strengths include multi-disciplinary research on health care financing
and delivery systems, health care quality, and outcomes of care; innovative
evaluation research on public programs for vulnerable populations, especially
children and youth; collaboration with many state and federal agencies in
research and health systems change; leadership in disseminating research
results and in interpreting research to policy-makers and the public and
development and evaluation of innovative community-wide health promotion
strategies.
We hope that you are interested in our innovative and exciting work. We invite
you to explore our website to learn more about who we are and what we do.
